Amino Acid Supplements

Amino Acids are the building blocks for all living things and the chemical basis for all protein, which is one of the largest components of our bodies. Our bodies use amino acids to produce the proteins that build everything from our muscles to our bones, even our immune system and antibodies rely on them. There are two basic groups of amino acids, essential and non-essential. Our liver manufactures the non-essential amino acids but essential amino acids must be ingested in our diets, as these are the ones that our bodies cannot produce. Most of us get all of the amino acids we need through the protein in our food. Many athletes supplement their amino acids as they help build muscle. Amino acids can be found naturally in meat, fish, dairy products and vegetables such as legumes, peas and grain.
