The active ingredient of silicea gel for the gastrointestinal system is silica gel (silicic acid gel), a compound made up of the mineral silicon with oxygen and water. Silica gel has an unusually high bonding capacity for pathogens and toxins. This means pathogens and toxins may be bound by a purely physical process in the GI tract and excreted naturally.
You may find silica gel for the gastrointestinal tract soothes your symptoms and supports the regeneration of your upset GI tract. The product may also reduce annoying flatulence, since it binds gases as well as pathogens.
Directions: always read carefully the detailed instructions and precautions which come with the product. Children and adults with acute symptoms should take two 15ml measuring spoonfuls in water 3-5 times a day, at least 30 minutes before meals, and if required immediately before bedtime. When acute symptoms have eased, continue for a few days by taking one 25ml spoonful 3 times a day at least 30 minutes before meals. If you have severe pain, fever or treatment does not prove effective after 3 days, see your doctor. Stated by the manufacturer to be suitable for children over 2 years of age.
